The representative of Bureau Veritas, Ricardo Fernández, gives the certificate to Borja Soroa, president of ANABAC, in the presence of the Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy, Bittor Oroz and the director of MSC in Spain and Portugal, Laura Rodríguez.

After a rigorous audit process carried out by Bureau Veritas, last 23rd June PEVASA’s Atlantic Ocean fleet was certified by the prestigious MSC (Marine Stewardship Council).

The certified modality has been the free bank fishing of yellowfin tuna. The PEVASA fleet vessels whose catches are now certified are the Playa de Azkorri, the Playa de Bakio, the Playa de Ris and the Playa de Noja.

This certificate is the result of PEVASA’s commitment to the sustainability of tuna and to preserving the health of marine ecosystems for future generations. This certificate also takes on special relevance for our company in this year 2021, in which we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of PEVASA.

This first certification paves the way for other certification processes in other species.
